dermaplaning facial treatment

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a treatment that has gained a lot of popularity over the last few years. Since the treatment removes dead skin cells, skincare products will be able to better penetrate the skin when applied, making them more effective.

The Benefits of Dermaplaning

During the dermaplaning procedure, an exfoliating blade is used to remove dead skin cells and “peach fuzz” (short, soft hair) from the face.

On a daily basis, our skin is exposed to harsh environmental toxins, irritants, and sun damage. These toxins can lead to the upper layer of our skin to appear dull and ultimately age us. Dermaplaning removes those damaged skin cells and helps to create a more youthful experience.

FAQ

You don’t need to plan any downtime to recover from a dermaplaning treatment. You may experience some slight redness that typically resolves within a few days.

It is advised to take extra precautions with sun exposure after a dermaplaning treatment. Sun damage could reverse the effects of dermaplaning, or lead to the formation of pigment on your newly exposed skin cells. It is important to wear sunscreen the weeks following your dermaplaning treatment.

Dermaplaning is a form of manual exfoliation. A surgical, sterile blade is stroked along the skin at an angle to gently “shave off” dead skin cells from the epidermis.

Dermaplaning also temporarily removes the fine vellus hair on the face, leaving a very smooth surface. As with any type of exfoliation, the removal of dead skin cells allows home care products to be more effective, reduces the appearance of fine lines, evens skin tone and assists in reducing milia, closed and open comedones and minor breakouts associated with congested pores.

Your hair will grow back exactly the same color and thickness as it was previously. The structure of the hair follicle remains unchanged.

By removing the dead skin on the surface of the face, dermaplaning prevents it from getting trapped inside your pores causing infection and leading to acne. Since dermaplaning removes dirt and debris, it allows for deeper penetration of serums and acne treatments into your skin which also prevents future acne.

No, the treatment is not painful. It is carefully performed by our certified medical technicians and feels like a slight tickle on your skin.

There is no downtime for this procedure for most clients. Some clients may experience some sensitivity and redness that typically subsides within 24-48 hours.

The number of treatments varies per clients and depends on a variety of factors.

are normal for the first few days. Skin care products may tingle or slightly burn for the first 2 days.
