Being fair-skinned and having Celtic or Scandinavian ancestors are risk factors for developing rosacea. Most individuals who develop rosacea are between the ages of 30-50.
Although the exact cause of rosacea is unknown, some factors that exacerbate symptoms include: spicy foods, H. pylori infection, cathelicidin, hot coffee or tea, food containing cinnamaldehyde (ex. cinnamon, chocolate, tomatoes, and citrus).
