Dark under eye circles, along with puffiness are often referred to as “eye bags”. The medical term “periorbital” is the swelling around the eyes, and is caused by fluid buildup around the eyes.
Dark circles are a common skincare complaint among both men and women and are more common among the elderly, individuals who are genetically predisposed, and non-Caucasians. There are a wide variety of causes of dark circles, some of which include, age, fatigue, eye strain, allergies, dehydration, sun exposure, genetics, etc.
